Recalling the devastating impact of tidal surge of 12^th November, 1970 Change Initiative in collaboration with Coastal Journalist Network of Bangladesh (CJNB) organized a roundtable discussion on 9^th November, 2019 at the VIP lounge of National Press Club. Given the acute crisis and challenges faced by the coastal communities and diverse potentialities of coastal zones specially the prospects of blue economy the speakers of the program urged the government to declare 12^th November as the “Upokul Dibas” (Coastal Day) to commemorate the victims of that day, to devise appropriate measures to prevent, reduce and regulate the risks induced by the disasters as well as to harness the yield of resources of ocean
